After Saturday's disappointing date, I figured that was the end of that. I figured he would realize it had been terrible, and I couldn't bring myself to send him a note saying that it was nice to meet him, since that would have been an utter lie. So I did nothing, assuming I wouldn't hear from him. Lo and behold, I was wrong.
On Sunday night, I received a PoF update telling me that he'd written to me. Having reconciled myself to the date, and having written to more appealing men-folk, I wasn't all that eager to deal with it so I put it off till yesterday morning. When I opened my PoF mailbox there was not one but three messages from the dude. So I read Part One, and quickly became uncomfortable. I read Part Two, with more uneasiness. I even read Part Three, although by this point I was skimming because it was just too much. The guy was basically asking me to give him another chance, complimenting me, making poor use of analogy, describing elaborate (non-sexual) fantasies about our "relationship", telling me how I was his last chance on this site, and possibly in life...and he ended it by asking me to call his house on Monday and leave a message saying, and I quote, "This is Jenn and I say yes" so that he'd know whether or not to call me on Monday night.
This makes me extremely uncomfortable. This is disturbing, and not only because I don't like it when relative unknowns talk about their feelings. It's disturbing because he built a world around our emails, turning me into this hyped-up ideal, and then couldn't handle the reality of the situation. This is why Internet dating has a bad name. This is also why I'm glad I gave him my cell number, not my house number.
I realize this may sound like I'm being really harsh but this freaks me out. I have talked to several people about this and they all agree that his letters were not acceptable. I understand being disappointed in how a date goes, and maybe even writing to ask for another opportunity, but three emails - because he exceeded his word count - is excessive. Plus his content left much to be desired.
If my Thursday date hadn't been so nice, and if I didn't have a couple more dates in the works with people who seem extremely normal, I'd give up on this entirely. If this turns into a trend, I'm definitely fishing somewhere else. Probably in real life.

I like how "making poor use of analogy" makes the list of problems with his messages.
Seriously, though, I am sorry that this happened. Bleh!
Ahhh someone has a stalker-to-be.
I'm wondering why this is making you gain in the Who Will Win At Online Dating poll ...
As am I but I'm okay with it!
