I wrote my last post while sitting in Hava Java, drinking coffee and puttering around on my computer (avoiding work, really). Very soon after I posted about the Pokey Brigade, I got IM'ed by Guy#1, and he asked whether I would be hanging around HJ for a while, which I said I would be.
So, I ended up meeting Guy#1 last night, after all.
I don't really think of this meet up as a date, as I was already there and not really in "date mode" (i.e., as pulled together as I would like to be for a date...but I was presentable). It was more informal than that, which is OK to me. My main thing is that I wanted to meet the guy and see what he was like, which I was fine with doing without the pressure of a "date."
Anyway, we ended up chatting over coffee for about two hours. As expected, he is a very nice guy, and we had good conversation. At the end of it, we both agreed we should get together again, so we'll see where it goes. I think we will meet up again, in possibly a more defined way. The nice thing is if we do go on a date this time, it will be after getting some of that initial nervous conversation out of the way first.
