The thin line

It's a thin line between sincere hesitation and pokiness. I mean, I totally understand being a little cautious about meeting someone. As for me, I hope to avoid a lot of physical, psychological, and legal harm during this social experiment by having my wits about me, but, really, I think people can be a little over-cautious. And, really, you don't know someone until you have met them (if then). Meeting up is a good thing. It's not a commitment or anything.

As Jenn is out on I-Date #3, it seems like an apt time to note that I have yet to go on I-Date #1. (For those folks who have voted for me in the poll, I am assuming you are investing your vote with a view towards the long-run... :P ) Now, this lag is not for lack of chatting. I have been keeping in regular touch with people.

Here is my top-three recap (now reordered by my interest in meeting up):

Guy#1 (who has been chatting with me since overseas for work): We've been chatting a lot over MSN. Actually, this is the only guy who I have chatted with over non-POF IM, well, because I am a paranoid chica, I suppose. Anyway, meeting up has been mentioned several times (by him) and encouraged (by me), but simply has not become a defined plan. I am fairly certain it will happen eventually, but it would be nice to have more of a plan in place.

Guy#2 (my random messaging friend, who posts pics of himself resembling the Unabomber): He amuses me. And we have kept in fairly regular touch (for over 3 weeks now). Yet I have no idea if we will ever meet in real life. I am not really even sure, actually, if I think he would be a good "romantic" match, but I think we'd find each other funny. And new friends are a good thing. But I actually like to see my potential friends in the three dimensional world.

Guy#3 (ah, Mr. Cancellation): Actually, he has written me since last weekend and has suggested trying to arrange a meeting again. I asked if he had any times in mind...and haven't heard anything back. Not holding my breath. At this point, I am more keeping in touch with him as an experiment. If there's a time that works for me to meet up, I'd be game, but I am not rearranging anything to do so.

So, to recap: I have leads, and (some) look like they might result in meeting-up. Somehow, though, I have managed to surround myself with the Pokey Brigade. And, as much as I would like to see this as caused by me, I don't think I am the cause of the pokiness. I think this is simply the combination of guys I seem to be chatting with.

C'mon, fellas! This girl's only got two weeks before going back to Houston. She'd really like a date!
