It's like they know...

I have noticed in both drawn-out conversations I have been having (as opposed to the short 1-2 message ones with other people) that I do not know what either guy does for work. Now, fundamentally, I am not overly picky on occupations in general for the most part. (Granted, I like men to have some form of occupation...)

I try not to ask too quickly what someone does for work because, well, I prefer not to look like I am trying to feel out someone's income. In the case of both of these men, though, I have been chatting with them over brief emails for about 10 days now, discussing various subjects. However, the couple of questions about work have not been responded to. (I should note, though, that no message has read "What do you do for work?" so there hasn't been any real, undeniable ducking of the question.) Instead, other threads of discussion have been carried on, leaving the work question unanswered.

Of course, me being me, I get a tad antsy about this glossing over of potentially relevant information. And then I wonder if they are hiding something. And then I figure that they either (1) work as a MC at a strip club or (2) deal drugs. But, more importantly, I start to wonder if they are jerks. Ah, I'm a trusting soul, aren't I?

I just think it is interesting that both men, who have had very different communication patterns, have not been forthcoming with this info. Is this some odd man code that I don't know?
