Our inaugural post

Ginny and I have started our social experiment: online dating through the quality web site Plenty of Fish. Selling point: it's free. Unfortunately, this means it appeals to the unwashed masses. We would like to point out that we're participating on the site to meet people, not just as fodder for a catty blog. This blog, however, is to document our zany misadventures and any possible nude pictures we get sent.

The parameters of our experiment are as follows:

1. We have up honest profiles with a photo, in both cases from Hallowe'en. (Pure coincidence.)

2. We will respond to people who seem interesting. Ginny has said she does not want messages from people looking for intimate encounters; I have yet check that box. This may change, as I only joined today and poor Ginny has already been propositioned.

3. We will have our IM setting as "on" but will not necessarily accept all invitations.

4. We will share both success and failure on this blog. We hope for success but anticipate failure.

5. We won't identify people by name when we discuss them, or post snippets of conversations. (We will never leave obvious clues, because this is about us, not them.)

6. We will each post at least once a week.

These parameters may change over time, depending on how things go.

Please respond to the poll we have placed in the sidebar, as we ask you to judge our successful dating potential.
