The ubiquitous LOL.

What's up with the title, you ask?

Well, to be honest, our first choice was epicfail.blogspot.com, but, alas, that had been taken.

So, this was our second choice.

We have both noticed that LOL is quite popular on POF. Apparently everything is funny, and so funny, in fact, that one might need to laugh out loud in response. For one, I would argue that this is not necessarily the case.

But here's proof:

[Disclaimer: This is from a conversation I am having with someone I actually wouldn't mind meeting, as you can tell in this excerpt. Proof that we can overlook the LOL-overload. LOL emphasis is mine.]

Me: So, anything super-cool on the go for you this weekend?

The guy: I don't know about "super-cool"...lol. But, my friend is having a little party . Some jamming, and drinking will be taking place...lol. What about you? Doing anything outrageously fun?

Me: I am getting together with some friends for a brief happy hour and then going to a party at a friend's house tonight. Past that, this weekend will probably be many hours in various coffee shops working on two papers for grad classes. (It's that time in the semester.) Basically, I will be highly caffinated this weekend. :)

I say this, but I am sure I will somehow distract myself with more socializing at some point. Either that, or distractions will find me. Or both.

Since I am going to be living in coffee shops this weekend, I was wondering if you might be up for distracting me from my work at some point. I like interspersing chats with folks with working on papers.

Just tossing it out. Drop a line if you're interested.

The guy: I did take a stroll down water street today....but, i never saw you. well....I don't think I did...lol.

Me: Ha... I have been holed up in Hava Java for the last few hours. Computer + coffee = work fun!

But, you know, as I am not in the hat and boots get-up, it's kinda like I am in stealth mode. ;)

The guy: And see!! The whole time I was looking for a horse parked out front..lol. Bad joke..lol. Any plans tonight?

I think every message has had a LOL in it. I'm not really sure why. Can anyone explain this to me?

But, still, it's a continuing conversation...so I'm counting this as "success."
